Choosing the right builder
20th September 2016
When it comes to having building work done in your home, you really can't rush into it. If a builder can start tomorrow, it's more than likely that they are not going to be very good. Most reputable builders will be in high demand and will probably be booked up months in advance so its best to start planning your project as early as possible. If you're having work done that requires an architect it's going to take time for the design process. Once you have drawings you will then want to start getting quotes from various builders. It is recommended to get at least 3 quotes to compare, in this day and age a piece of paper with a price on will not do, you want to see a thorough break down of exactly what is included so that you dont get hit by any hidden extras. The cheapest price is not neccesarily going to be the best price but at the same time you don't want to be paying more than you should be. When searching for a builder to price for your project its good to ask people who have had work done for recomendations, have a look at the work they have done so you know that they are capable of carrying out the work. Another good place to look are websites such as Which trusted traders or the FMBs find a builder service. Builders who are assosiated with these affiliations will have had to have gone through a tough vetting process and will have their work inspected regulary so they are likely to be trustworthy.
